Will the numbers land in real cells?
Yes. The table is rebuilt as a spreadsheet with one value per cell, not pasted in as a picture or as one long line of text per row. You can sort it, total it and chart it straight away.
Can I keep editing the spreadsheet here afterwards?
No, and this is the one thing worth knowing before you start. A spreadsheet is the end of the line for us: we can convert to it, but we cannot then translate or rewrite it for you. If you want to work on the content as well, convert to Word instead and go to Excel last.
What if my PDF is a scan?
It still works. A PDF with no text layer is read with text recognition before the spreadsheet is built. It takes longer than a PDF that already has text in it, and you do not have to do anything differently.
How big can my file be?
Up to 10 MB per file, for every account level. A PDF longer than 20 pages is converted up to its first 20 pages — 100 on a paying account — and the result tells you that happened.
What happens to a page that is not a table?
Ordinary prose comes across as rows of text rather than being thrown away. If your PDF is mostly writing with one table in it, converting to Word will read better — you can copy the one table into a spreadsheet from there.
Do you watermark the result?
No. There is no watermark on a converted file at any account level.
Do I need an account?
No. Your first conversion runs without signing up.

Why did my conversion fail?
The usual reasons are a PDF that needs a password to open, a file over the size limit, or a damaged file that no reader can open. Whichever it was, we tell you which one rather than showing a general error.
Why is it free?
Because conversion is the cheap half of what we do, and the interesting half is what you ask for next.
